Memories are the best thing to collect if you ask me. Unfortunately, not everyone will remember everything FOREVER. That’s human.

If you want to be able to look back at all the beautiful moments you collected, it’s a good idea to think about a way to remember them forever.

We have all been on trips where we took a lot of pictures, but ended up never looking at them, if you can find them at all. That’s not what your trip deserves, and you definitely don’t either. When you are about to go on one of your best trips of your life, you definitely want to remember!

My favorite ways to remember your Vacations forever

1. Collect a specific type of souvenir

If you have a little space in your house, creating a display with a certain type of souvenir will look great! I’m not talking about the cliché fridge magnets here (even though you can definitely buy those if that’s what you like), but I’m mostly talking about some more unique souvenirs.

Buy some mini jars on amazon to store sand from each place you’ve visited for example. I think a few (or a lot) of them together make such nice decor and it will make you smile every time you see it.

You could buy jewelry as well, so you can wear your favorite travel moments.

When taking something from nature every time, keep in mind that not everything is ethical to take and that some things aren’t allowed on a plane or are even against the law.

I personally collect wristbands and I bring my grandma a shot glass from everywhere I go, but you can collect anything you like!

2. Use a travel tracker app

I use this method most! I use an app called Polarsteps to track where I’ve been. It tracks roughly the path you’ve walked/drove/flew and allows you to add pictures and a story to each location.

You can share your trip with family and friends, so they can follow along on your adventures. I know my mom is checking in every day and texts me when I don’t add an update every day. She loves it!

It makes it so easy to look back at your trips and see what you did where exactly. After some time the names of the destinations and what you did there can get a bit blurry in your memory.

3. Organize your photos

Coming back to that thing I talked about earlier, losing your photo’s. Organizing them on your laptop or hard drive in separate maps is a good idea. Organize them for example on year, then month, and then trip. Name every map and transfer all your pictures and video’s to these maps.

Don’t forget to back up all your pictures from time to time. Better safe than sorry!

Never lose your important memories again!

4. Get a photobook

Yes, storing your pictures on your pc is good, but not many of us actually take time to look at them again. A book makes this much easier.

PolarSteps gives you an option to print a book with all your Polarsteps pictures and stories, with a discounted rate right after your trip.

You can also choose to make your own book with another company. There are plenty that make it easy for you to create your own in little time.

I personally would chose for the latter, but that’s honestly because I don’t post my good pictures from my dslr camera on my PolarSteps, because it’s harder to get those pictures on my phone. I would want a book with the good and the fun ‘in the moment’ pictures together.

5. Make a playlist

You have probably heard of stories about people with dementia who don’t recognize their family anymore, but can sing along to songs from their younger days. Music and memories are connected that strong.

It goes without saying your brain makes connections between your (most played) songs on your trip and the trip itself. I know I have plenty of songs that can bring me back to a specific place and I even remember who was there, what drink I was drinking, etc.

Spotify has an option to create shared playlists, so everyone can put their favorite/most memorable songs in that list, so you can all reminisce your shared experiences together later.

Remembering your trips is going to make you able to relive your favorite travel moments again. Go on your next trip and use these tips to remember your vacation forever!
